Description:
They came over the Kansas line like great
throngs of locusts. The rich men rode in horse drawn buggies or
on horseback; the poorer men came on foot. But some of the poor
men would become rich and some of the rich men, richer. This was
the great Oklahoma Land Run of September 16, 1893, when the vast
Cherokee Outlet was thrown open by the United States government
to settlement. More Historic Homes of Ponca CIty and Kay County tells of the people who made this historic land run and of the
others who followed with the discovery of oil.
